Category moves that quietly change commission points
Catalogue refreshes can reassign SKUs into higher-fee leaves of the marketplace tree without a loud announcement.
A beauty SKU that sat under “personal care accessories” in March may sit under a narrower “prestige colour cosmetics” leaf by May after a catalogue cleanup. The seller centre rarely sends a dedicated “your commission rose two points” email.
Compare category codes on order exports week by week when GMV mix looks stable but commission cash does not. In fee schedule assessments we often find the published tree is correct—the SKU simply walked into a more expensive branch.
Photograph or export the category path when you onboard a new SKU. That snapshot becomes evidence later, when memory of “where we filed it” has faded.
